It looks like Apple will no longer sell and just dropped the Macbook line from their online store and replacing it will the recently updated Macbook Air, if you checked the Apple Online Store, Macbook is no where to be seen, you can only see Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac and Mac Pro, even in the Apple Store, you will see the same lineup and no MacBook.
It’s been 10 days or 11 days (well depending on your timezone) since Apple announced the new and refreshed lineup of MacBook Air and the last time Apple refreshed the Macbook model was May of last year. While both the Macbook and Macbook Air have the same price which is $999.00, MacBook Air appears to be a better deal if you compare the specs of Macbook and Macbook Air; in the processor department MBA uses Intel’s 2nd Gen i-Core processors, while MacBook is using the much slower 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, in terms of GPU, Macbook uses NVidia GeForce 320M and MBA is powered by Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor, another difference is that MBA will have Thunderbolt port and Bluetooth 4.0 which is not available on the Macbook. Macbook does have a optical disc drive but Apple already killed that when they introduced the Mac App Store.
I personally never would have never imagine that Apple will be able to fit a powerful processor in that tiny and thin body of MacBook Air, but they did and they practically made Macbook Air the template for future notebook or laptops for other manufacturers to copy. So that leaves us the question; what do you think of the new Macbook Air? Do you think that Apple did the right thing by dropping the Macbook and replacing it with Macbook Air line? Comments are welcome.
