I did post a while back about the iPhone being 5 years. But that was the announcement but this on is the 5 year anniversary of iPhone when it was released. Of course people and so called “experts” were criticizing and taking jabs at Apple regarding their inexperience in the phone industry. The Loop have an article compiling their comments and reaction regarding Apple entering the mobile phone arena and releasing the iPhone.
Of all the reaction and comments made about the iPhone, my favorite is when Steve Ballmer said “Right now we’re selling millions of millions of millions of millions of phones a year, Apple’s selling “ZERO” phones a year! In 6 months they’ll have the most expensive phone by far ever in the market place… ” and that was before after Apple announced the iPhone (you can actually watch the whole video here). Who would have guest right? Of course after 5 years, the iPhone revolutionized the mobile industry that no one product have done before, from the way they design the phone, the OS, Apps, in how to market it and heck it even changed Apple as a company. Just imagine the iPhone alone contributed 58% of the company’s revenue that’s more than $26 billion in revenue, how’s that for a product that was destined to flop?
To commemorate the success story of the iPhone, people at Statista created an infographic on the rise and domination of iPhone. Check out the iphographic below.
