4 days after the Mac OSX Mountain Lion was made available to all Mac users, Apple is reporting the the latest version and most powerful Mac OS, have been downloaded for 3 million times in 4 days ” making it the most successful OS X release in Apple’s history”, that’s almost 9 downloads per second.
If you’re saying, what about Mac OS X Lion? It was indeed downloaded for 1 million times on its first day but it looks like it did not have the same momentum like the Mountain Lion, because it was reported that by October 2011, Mac OS X Lion has sold over 6 million copies worldwide that includes both the download and the physical copy that was bought by Mac users.
Let’s put it in another perspective, Mac OSX “Lion” needed 3 months to get to the 6 million mark while “Mountain Lion” achieve half of that in just 4 days.
One reason for the fast adaption of the Mountain Lion is that it’s $10 cheaper than it’s predecessor, Mac OSX Lion have a $29.99 price tag which is a but pricey in today’s “App Pricing” standard. The new Mac OSX Mountain Lion will have more than 200 new features like FB integration, new Safari Browser, Airplay mirroring, feature for China etc. and can easily be downloaded and install via Apple’s Mac App Store.
