Last month Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) conducted a study on the cost electricity that an iPad consumed in a year and their findinga may surprise you.
According to EPRI, if an iPad is fully charged every other day for a whole year, you will need to pay only $1.36, of course the actual costs will depend on the price rate of electricity in your area. The $1.36 that was based on $0.11 per kilowatt hour rate, so if you’re a Meralco customer, the rate will be $0.13 PhP/kWh that means the total cost of electricity consumed by your iPad if you’re in the Philippines is $1.56.
EPRI aside from the iPad also analyzed other devices like; Apple iPhone 3G consumes 2.2 kWh of electricity each year that will have a power cost of $.25 annually, laptops which consume 72.3 kWh of electricity each year and cost consumers $8.31 and plasma 42ā television consumes 358 kWh of electricity a year and will cost you $46.54, while your common 60W CFL light bulbs will consume an approx. 14 kWh of electricity and cost $1.61 a year.
I guess iPad is not only magical but energy-efficient too.
