Just read this article from VentureBeat about Apple reducing the iPhone 4S price in the US, so I immediately check if its the same with other Apple store around the world specifically in the Middle East.
Since Apple Store is not available or does not have an online store for K.S.A. resident, I went to the nearest country where the Apple Store is available and that’s in Apple UAE (Dubai?) Store, it looks like they’re indeed lowering the price of iPhone 4S from AED 2,599.00 for the 16 GB capacity and the new price tag for the 16 GB iPhone 4S is AED 1,499.00 that’s an almost 50% price reduction.
I tried checking if the same thing is happening here in K.S.A. and it looks like retailers are selling iPhone 4S at the same retail price and it won’t change until the end of Ramadan or until the successor of iPhone have been announced.
Though one thing I notice is that if I try and make a purchase via Apple Store online the price reverts back to AED 2,599.00, so this may very well be a web site issue than a price reduction by Apple or that the AED 1,499.00 will be the new price for iPhone 4S with 2 year contract. So have anyone from UAE able to snag an iPhone 4S with the AED 1,499.00 price tag? I’m sure a lot of people would like to know the truth.
