Good news to all Blackberry 10 owner (or those planning to get a BB Z10) since BlackBerry recently announced that there are now 100,000 Blackberry 10 App available in the Blackberry App World that’s 30,000 more than the available 70k apps when the BlackBerry 10 OS was announced late January.
In a press release Martyn Mallick, Vice President, Global Alliances at BlackBerry said…
“The response to the BlackBerry 10 platform and applications has been outstanding. Customers are thrilled with the applications already available, and the catalog just keeps growing, now with more than 100,000 apps… Top brands and application providers are joining us every day and are seeing the benefits of being early supporters of the new platform. We constantly hear from developers that the BlackBerry 10 tools are easy to build with and that we provide opportunities for app differentiation that they do not see on other platforms.”
Angry Birds Star Wars, Amazon Kindle, OpenTable, The Wall Street Journal, Facebook, Foursquare, Jetpack Joyride, LinkedIn, Need for Speed, NHL GameCenter, PressReader, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Zara – are just some of the current crop of BB apps that you can download, and in the coming weeks CNN, The Daily Show Headlines, eBay, eMusic, Maxim, MLB at Bat, MTV News, Pageonce, PGA, Rdio, Skype, Soundhound and Viber will be available for download or purchase.
If you visit BB App World, you’ll notice that some of the popular Apps like Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger were developed by RIM themselves and not by their own company which means companies like Facebook, twitter as well as Microsoft and Yahoo are waiting to see what’s the consumer’s reception of the BB 10 powered devices, after all if only a few hundreds (or thousands) of people will be using BB 10, why would they waste time and resources developing an app that no one may use.
Plus what consumer will surely be looking at the BB App World will not be the number of apps available for download but the quality of the Apps, specially if the apps that they ALWAYS used on their iPhone or Android phone is available for BB 10 or BB Z10.
