Globally Viber has more than 200 million active users but in the Philippines, the Cypriot-based VoIP-messaging app only as 6 million Filipino users and it looks like Viber and Globe wants to change that.
Viber and Globe Telecom just announced their partnership to offer exclusive Viber data promos, that allows any Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers to be always connected to Viber even without a wifi connection or pay additional data charges. For just Php10, a Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers will be connected to Viber for 24 hours, the service will be powered by Globe Mobile Internet.
In a press release, Jenny Granada-Echevarria, Head of Globe Mobile Data Services said “On the back of our highly-successful partnership with some of the world’s leading mobile content providers, we welcome another tie-up with Viber as we bring the latest mobile application to Filipinos under our suite of mobile internet plans and offers… Enjoy Viber your way with Globe and connect not only with your friends within the Globe network or other local telcos, but also with your social circles with Viber accounts around the world.”
Viber will be competing with other VoIP-messaging platform in country like WeChat, Line, as well as Facebook messaging and Tango.
