Speaking in an investor meeting by Wall Stree Journal, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima revealed that the company is scheduled to release their first mobile game by March 2016.
The mobile game is Miitomo, which is one of the five mobile games that Nintendo will release in partnership with DeNA, by March 2016. Nintendo- DeNA initially planed to release their first game this year but was delayed.
Miitomo is a user-generated avatars that will allow users to connect with other players. From the way Nintendo is describing the game, it sounds like a gamified messaging app, which is free-to-download with game add-ons that users can buy via in-app-purchase.
It’s unclear when will Nintendo bring their popular gaming character to mobile, like Mario, Zelda and Pikachu, if Nintendo is just testing the waters with Miitomo, I’m sure people will haev mixed feeling with their initial release.
Nintendo shares went down 7.5% after the announcement.
