ICANN approves the use of generic top-level domains (gTLDs)

The day of ".coke", ".nike", ".microsoft" or "apple.ipad" may soon arrive, since ICANN has just approved the use of generic top-level domains (gTLDs), the voting was 13 approving, 1 opposed, and 2 abstaining, which means that there's a big interest in generic top-level domains (gTLDs) atleast in the ICANN board.
With the approval of generic top-level domains (gTLDs), anyone with $185,000 in spare cash can register their own domain like ".photo" for photos or photography, ".blog" for obvious reason blogs and for a more personal touch "yourname.yourfamilyname", which of course can be your full name or someone else's full name. But ...
